Your feet have a direct impact on the rest of your body. When a small problem develops in your feet, a subtle change in the way you walk will cause a chain reaction of adjustments in your posture and walking mechanics (gait). These changes can put stress on joints higher up in the your body, and lead to more serious problems. Properly-made orthotics are custom molded to support the requirements of your feet. They help restore the normal balance and alignment of your body by gently correcting the foot biomechanics.
In order to determine the need for orthotics, and create the best possible ones for you, we utilize a thorough biomechanical assessment along with pressure mapping technology (GaitScan) to analyze your foot function and gait.
GaitScan™ is computer hardware and software that helps us assess and analyze your feet. As you walk across the pressure plate, thousands of tiny sensors capture the distribution of pressure of your foot over time.
We also utilize slipper sock fibreglass casting in order to obtain the best possible fit. During casting, the feet are held in a non- weight bearing, neutral position, generating an optimal mold of the foot.
Combining the 2 dimensional scan, 3 dimensional cast of your foot, and a thorough biomechanical assessment while standing, walking and/or running, we are able to produce the best custom orthotic for your needs
